Cesta
Lighting, TableThis is perhaps the most highly acclaimed piece from one of Spain’s leading pioneering masters of industrial design. This lamp was part of Miguel Milá’s first collection for TRAMO, the company he founded to produce his own work in post-war Spain. He dabbled in a profession that he would later go on to master, that of a pre-industrial designer, seeking convenient solutions with the technology available. Milá’s words, like his pieces, have an incredible depth that lies beneath their simplicity. TMM is the more laid-back version of the TM family, and features a wooden shaft. [spb_text_block title="" animation="none" animation_delay="0" simplified_controls="yes" custom_css_percentage="no" padding_vertical="0" padding_horizontal="0" margin_vertical="0" border_size="0" border_styling_global="default" width="1/1" el_position="first last"][/spb_text_block] [spb_toggle title="+ Read More" open="false" width="1/1" el_position="first last"] In an exquisite demonstration of formal serenity and functional efficiency, Miguel Milá brilliantly separated the three basic components of any lamp: the structure, the electrical components and the shade, that are easily assembled and maintained throughout its very long life. And becomes ever more beautiful with time. A cross-shaped base supports a square shaft that becomes circular in the middle, allowing the shade to be moved up and down. The shade’s height is adjustable via a rubber band stopper. A genuine lesson in intelligence and good taste, making minimal use of components. This was Miguel Milá’s first product that Santa & Cole re-released in 1986, 25 years after its creation. It comes in a range of five different woods for the structure and two shade colours, white or beige.€795,00 incl. VAT*This item is not available for purchase online. Cesta Metalica
Lighting, TableA duel between fragility and strength: the Cesta Metálica is the updated version of the Cesta, with its own distinct features. It comes with or without a smooth leather handle; a stark contrast to the stern, rigid structure, that gently holds an opal globe without neck. Miguel Milá mastered the strength of steel by placing at its centre a delicate opal silhouette, and a touch of soft leather. A seamless expression of strength and emotion, combined with everyday practicality. The lantern is produced manually by European craftsmen, using traditional glass blowing techniques for its opal shade. These masterpieces by Miguel Milá are part of our Design Classics collection, a series of objects created throughout the Modernist era.€1.400,00 incl. Cestita
TableInspired by the traditional lanterns that light up homes along the coast, rural estates and open terraces, Cestita is the little sister of one of the most iconic lamps created by Miguel Milá. It can house an opal glass shade or a white plastic one, making it more child resistant. The size of this lamp object makes it easy to pick up and carry, equally ideal for both tabletops and floors. It is produced and assembled manually by European craftsmen, using traditional steam bending techniques for the wood, which is delicately polished and sturdily put together. Despite its peculiarity (or rather because of it) the lamp’s design and function remain contemporary. [spb_text_block title="" animation="none" animation_delay="0" simplified_controls="yes" custom_css_percentage="no" padding_vertical="0" padding_horizontal="0" margin_vertical="0" border_size="0" border_styling_global="default" width="1/1" el_position="first last"][/spb_text_block] [spb_toggle title="+ Read More" open="false" width="1/1" el_position="first last"] Miguel Milá is one of the most renowned Spanish industrial designers. Dorica Floor Lamp
Floor, LightingA delicate hand-made ribbon shade is offset by a sturdy bronze cylindrical base. The lamp stem is topped by a natural leather grip for a rustic feel. Reminiscent of humanity’s oldest Greek columns, Dórica is a symbol of strength. An optional, wider stabilising base is also available for use in busy areas. [spb_text_block title="" animation="none" animation_delay="0" simplified_controls="yes" custom_css_percentage="no" padding_vertical="0" padding_horizontal="0" margin_vertical="0" border_size="0" border_styling_global="default" width="1/1" el_position="first last"][/spb_text_block] [spb_toggle title="+ Read More" open="false" width="1/1" el_position="first last"] Jordi Miralbell and Mariona Raventós were a pair of design artisans who created different pieces of lighting and furniture, and tackled numerous projects together; amongst others, they were editors and partners at Santa & Cole. The poetic shapes of their lamps, crafted in materials such as parchment, raffia or cotton, offer different ways of lighting that reflect the essence of the creative duo: “Design is the art of transforming the utilitarian into an object of desire, made with human warmth.” Dorica is a radiant sculpture of light. A classic allegory by one of Barcelona’s most famous designer duo of the end of the century. A manifesto of the importance of industrial craftsmanship as the only way to offer the best user experience.€1.250,00 incl. VAT*This item is not available for purchase online. Moragas Table lamp
Lighting, TableAt the age of forty-four, Antoni de Moragas Gallissà designed the Moragas lamp for his own office. Rationalist architect and first president of the Association of Industrial Design FAD, he was an instigator of the architectural renewal in post-war Spain. Moragas had this lamp on his desk and would often use it to place notes and business cards he’d receive, inserting them between the ribbon folds. A sturdy wood cylinder supports a head with three bulbs arranged radially and outwards, surrounded by a generous circular shade. The shade is made from cotton ribbon (typically used for bookbinding) and has a silk thread running along the edge, forming an asymmetry that creates a splendid contrast of light and shadow.€1.150,00 incl.
