    White Rubber Lamp by Brian Thoreen. Brian Thoreen is a Los Angeles and Mexico City based designer who creates furniture, art and installations that gather their ethos from the integral nature of the materials within the application. His works, whether rigid or fluid, follow a directive that the inspiration is in the medium and the final product will always tell its own truth. Thoreen’s vision has been focused through years of working in the fields of art, design and architecture. He found early inspiration working closely with artists like Tony Delap, James Turrell, Peter Wegner and the James Corcoran Gallery and brings this artistic sensibility to real world applications, always focusing on quality in an effort to maintain the implicit virtue of his works. Thoreen’s work has been exhibited internationally including shows at Patrick Parrish Gallery, NYC and Masa Galeria, Mexico.

    With its fourth collection, Studio HAOS expressed its belief in grounded elegance through eight simple forms meant to convey emotion in the most elemental way possible. Aimed at purifying filmmaking by refusing special effects and technical gimmicks, the Dogme 95 movement – started by Danish directors Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg – served as an anchoring intention throughout the evolution of HAOS’ new series. Rejecting the “need” for expensive materials or rare expertise, the duo sought to elevate humble materials – such as plywood and sheet metal – in the construction of considered objects and structures.

    Inspired by the tension and dynamics of the circus act, this pendant is a triangle fixed in space. Uninterrupted lines suspend glowing circles from the ceiling creating soft light and graphic appeal. Available with either brass or hand-cast porcelain bowls.
